Boris completed a civil engineering degree program at the Belarus National Technical University in 1993. His first experience in the building industry was as the Project Engineer in the field of plumbing and fire protection systems design.
After moving to Canada in 2001, Boris continued his career in the fire protection industry as a Fire Protection Systems Designer at SimplexGrinnell, A Division of Tyco International. This period allowed him to understand all facets of the construction business and acquire a deep knowledge and practical experience in applying engineering principles and techniques to the design of fire protection systems. During this period of time, Boris also took several professional development courses.
In 2008, Boris earned his Master of Fire Protection Engineering degree at the University of Maryland. This long-distance program features a curriculum rich in the latest scientific and technological principles and practices needed to advance in the field of fire protection engineering and is developed specifically for working fire protection professionals. During his studies at University of Maryland, Boris completed graduate level courses in the field of fire dynamics, fire and smoke modeling, principles of human behaviour during fire, etc.
Upon completion of his studies at University of Maryland, Boris joined GBA as a Consultant for the purpose of applying his vast knowledge of fire safety science and experience in the contracting business to practical building code consulting, development of alternative solutions, design of fire protection features and systems, as well as to fire and human behaviour modeling.
