Principal

Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Design

Tony Godwin joined GBA as a Senior Consultant in November 2002. He brings 27 years experience in design, installation and service of all types of fire protection systems, including sprinkler and fire alarm systems, special hazards and clean agent systems.

Starting as a sprinkler system designer, Tony has completed many projects in new construction, in retrofits and in additions and alterations. While employed by Automatic Sprinkler Ltd. in the 1970s, he worked on design of special hazards systems for petrochemical plants in Alberta and Ireland. In the early 1980s, he was responsible for design and project management for all sprinkler and Halon systems in the Prince Rupert Grain Terminal.

Tony was employed by Grinnell Fire Protection (now SimplexGrinnell, part of Tyco International Ltd.) for 15 years. His responsibilities over that time ranged from system design to sales and service management. As a major supplier of fire protection systems, Grinnell provided the opportunity to gain experience in almost every type of fire protection currently in use, and in every type of application.

His experience is supplemented by Level IV certification in Sprinkler System Design by NICET and by numerous training courses in fire alarm, special hazards, clean agent systems, and building code.

At Gage-Babcock & Associates, Tony will use his knowledge and experience to provide clients with detailed evaluations of their fire protection systems requirements, followed by complete design and specification services and project management to completion.
